Dear Fellow Meetup Challengers

Dear Fellow Meetup Challengers,

Not one person has noticed my Meetup Challenge Lanyard, and I’m okay with that. I joined this challenge to get myself on a daily writing and publishing schedule, and that part is working really well. The social aspect of wearing a sign around my neck as a way to invite people to engage with me (IRL!) was a little out of my comfort zone. However, despite feeling uncomfortable I am wearing the lanyard every time I leave the house.

How about you all? Are you wearing your lanyards? Has anyone talked to you about them? What do you feel has been most valuable about this experience so far?

I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below if you’re open to sharing.

Yours Truly,
Me

  1. I have not been wearing the lanyard, and wrote about that in my last post. But I will try. Like you, I joined to develop a daily writing habit. That part has been successful.

    1. I can totally relate to this. SineoSo commented on my lanyard and since then, I'm finding I'm forgetting to wear it. There's definitely a part of me that doesn't like getting too personal with strangers! But I'm going to keep doing my best to wear it out and push myself out of my comfort zone. Perhaps it will help me be more social.

  2. Hey Me! I have been wearing my lanyard every day. Even when I'm at home, I put it on until I've written my post. No one has noticed, or if they have, haven't said anything about it. The most valuable thing I've learned in this first week is that while I do love writing, I love it even more when I'm inspired with a story. When I'm truly inspired I will sit and write and the time will fly. When I'm trying just to get something down it feels more like a chore. I never thought it would feel like a chore. I'm still loving the process though!

    1. I definitely understand what you mean about making yourself write. I feel like it's always easier when I'm inspired and feeling the flow. But I also find the flow comes more often the more I write. So the discipline is still helpful for me I think. I'm glad you are still enjoying the process. I am too!

  3. I wear the lanyard more often than not, but only one person has asked about it. From the question on my lanyard, I learned my supervisor's favorite birthday was his 50th when he went on a cruise. It has me writing on a regular basis, which was my goal.

    1. That's great that you got to get a little more personal with your supervisor. Do you think he will visit your blog too? I'm so glad you're getting on a regular writing scheduleI! Me too. I'm finding that I feel better on days I either blog or write in other formats.
